Head of IT Services

Information Technology is heavily imbedded throughout the organization, which is comprised of 134 elementary schools, more than 74,000 regular day students, and 12,000+ full-time and part-time employees. The DDSB is seeking a collaborative **Head of IT Services **to direct the day-to-day operation of IT management and staff.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Corporate Services, and accountable for the comprehensive IT function of the organization, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for DDSB’s IT operations functions, including corporate business solutions, IT security, school systems and support, innovation and leading practice, and IT planning and governance. In collaboration with the Superintendent of Innovation and Innovation Officer, you will also direct the development and implementation of the Leveraging Digital pedagogical plan to support student learning.

Committed to ensuring that technology supports business and user needs - now and in the future, you will not only oversee the quality of design and implementation of technology systems that improve end-user experience and optimize internal operations, but also monitor changes or advancements in technology in industry and ensure that a process review is in place to facilitate continuous improvement.

**Qualifications**

Your profile as a qualified **Head of IT Services **will include:

- A university degree in Business Administration with a computer focus, or in Computer Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience as a CIO, CTO, or similar senior management/leadership role, preferably in a large, complex organization with multiple locations.
- 7 years’ IT or computer science/engineering work and management experience.
- 10 years’ school board experience, preferred.
- Expert knowledge of business theory and process, and awareness of technological trends to build strategic technology goals.
- Extensive knowledge of IT cyber security concepts and practice.
- Extensive experience planning and managing large budgets.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
- Proven leadership and organizational abilities.
- Strong strategic and business mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
- Foundational knowledge of the principles of Human Rights and Equity, with an expectation that systemic barriers will be identified and removed.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.

**Salary range**:$133,483 - $156,173 per annum (pending job evaluation)

The **Durham District School Board (DDSB)** is responsible for public education in the rural settings of Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog Townships and the urban settings of Ajax, Whitby, Pickering and Oshawa. The **DDSB** accommodates a school population of nearly 74,000 students in 134 elementary and secondary schools, and thousands more who take advantage of a wide variety of continuing education and adult credit courses.
