You will play a key role in the areas of new product sourcing and development, securing quality suppliers, negotiating contract terms, managing contract performance, arranging timely delivery of goods, and overseeing inventory levels. The role requires exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to manage the unexpected challenges present in the global supply chain.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise operation of the company’s various warehouses and manage all activities related to our distribution partnership.
- Managing external supplier relationships with particular emphasis on the negotiation, purchase of products, inventory control, and P.O. writing for the department.
- Coordinating and managing resolutions to quality concerns, ensuring timely and effective responses, and finding a long-term resolution of each concern.
- Ensure products are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time.
- Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers who are aligned to the company's needs.
- Identify new suppliers, agreeable terms, and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
- Foster close working relationships with associated departments e.g. Marketing, Store Development, Accounting and Franchising.
- Seek continual improvement on purchasing methods and drive down external spend.
- Complete a comprehensive review of current methodology to identify and implement improvements.
- Inventory control is required to assure company targets are met, which includes identifying and resolving product shortages to minimize store level impact.
- Full involvement specifically with operations and marketing departments on the evaluation of new and existing products and their successful integration at store level.
Qualifications and Skills
- 3+ years of direct experience in a purchasing role.
- Relevant post-secondary education and/or supply chain management accreditation.
- Proven track record of driving costs down and reducing overall expenditures.
- Prior experience in the following areas will be considered an asset - restaurant supply chain, inventory management and control, transportation and logistics, direct supervision of employees, relationship management, and direct experience procuring products from outside of the domestic market (beyond North America).
- Expert user of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
