As a Buying Manager at Knix, you will be a strategic leader for the full business by leading the strategic purchasing efforts to drive product assortment, selection, and procurement, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer preferences. In addition to managing a team of two buyers, you will leverage your industry expertise and market insights to optimize inventory levels, maximize sales potential, enhance overall profitability and report to the Director of Merchandising.
**The Opportunity**:
- ** Strategic Buying**:Develop and implement strategic buying plans to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turnover targets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align buying strategies with overall business objectives.
- **Team Leadership**:Lead the Buying team to strategize and execute growing the Knix business, profitably, with innovation always front of mind. Nurture the growth and development of the team, and build bench strength through ongoing training, feedback and providing learning and development opportunities
- ** Omni-channel Assortment Planning**:Lead the curation of a balanced product assortment that meets the needs and preferences of Knix customers. Analyze sales performance, market trends, and customer feedback to make data-driven assortment decisions. Strategically differentiate product assortments by channel to maximize growth and profitability
- ** Inventory Management**: Optimize inventory levels across all channels to minimize excess inventory and stockouts. Monitor sell-through rates and make proactive inventory management decisions to maximize sales and minimize markdowns.
- **Market Analysis**: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics. Conduct regular market research and analysis to identify emerging opportunities and potential threats.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration**:Work closely with planning, marketing, design, merchandising, and commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of buying strategies and alignment across functions.
- ** Budget Management**: Manage departmental budgets effectively, tracking expenses and ensuring spending remains within approved limits.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
- Advanced degrees or professional certifications are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in retail buying leadership, with a focus on intimate apparel or related categories.
- Proven track record of driving sales and profitability through effective assortment planning and vendor management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and financial reports.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for the Knix brand and commitment to its mission of empowering women.
**About You**:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in a DTC and Omni Channel Buying leadership role
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate Excel and experience with procurement software/tools (e.g., Netsuite, PIM, PLM platforms) GSuiteAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Understanding of Buying principles and inventory management concepts.
