**Position Information**:
Reporting to the Manager, Wellness, Engagement & Recognition, the Lead, Events & Recognition is responsible for leading the planning, organizing, coordinating, promoting, and managing of corporate events, within the context of recognition and employee engagement at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH).

The Lead, Events & Recognition will collaborate with and oversee the work of the Coordinator, Events & Recognition and Assistant, Events & Recognition. This includes providing them with coaching, feedback and support to help them reach their full potential.

As part of their role, the Lead, Events & Recognition will also lead sponsorship activities relating to staff appreciation to garner support from community businesses/partners and further enhance the quality of corporate events. This includes collaborating with the TOH Foundation and members of the TOH Business Development Team.

**What you will bring**:

- Four (4) year Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Event Planning, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources, or related field;
- Five (5) years of leading the planning of events, including experience planning large corporate events, overseeing a project team and budget, as well as leading event sponsorship activities;
- Expertise with various modes and platforms of event delivery: virtual, in person and hybrid;
- High level of competence with standard office computer equipment and software is required (knowledge of MS suite, including SharePoint, as well as Canva and other relevant project management programs);
- Sound event management knowledge including communications, vendor relations, budgeting, and financial analysis;
- Ability to create relationships with external businesses/partners, including managing sponsorship opportunities relating to staff appreciation;
- Ability to oversee large budgets, and ensure fiscal responsibility and respect internal policies and procedures;
- Ability to request quotes and negotiate prices with vendors;
- Must be well-poised and can collaborate with internal and external partners across many different levels of the organization;
- Exceptional organizational skills and detail-orientation with a focus on quality and accuracy;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) in both English and French;
- Strong client-service orientation and ability to remain professional at all times;
- Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting time frames;
- Capable of working independently, while being a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team;
- Ability to oversee the work of direct team members, as well as members of the broader project team that report to a different leader;
- Ability to coach, mentor and provide feedback to direct team members;
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance;
- Possess a valid driver's license and have regular access to a reliable car.
