**THE ROLE**

As a full-time Boarding Advisor, you play a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for student boarders aged 11-18. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will provide around-the-clock supervision and guidance, while also supporting non-boarding students during designated activities and events. In this role, you are essential to enhancing all aspects of student life and programming, requiring ongoing communication with stakeholders, adaptability to shifting priorities, and timely decision-making.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide daily supervision, care, and support for students.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor, fostering respect, responsibility, and inclusion.
- Support meaningful and active participation of all students within the community.
- Conduct individual and group check-ins to monitor and support student safety and well-being.
- Encourage and support students in completing chores, homework, and other responsibilities.
- Plan, organize, and lead activities and events that enrich student life.
- Accompany students to and from academic school, appointments, activities, and events by vehicle or on foot.
- Communicate concerns from students or parents/guardians to required stakeholders as appropriate.
- Assist with crisis response and management as required.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

You will work in a student boarding environment, engaging directly with students in their daily routines. The role involves the use of standard office equipment and cleaning supplies, as well as the ability to move items weighing up to 22 kg (50 lbs), such as furniture or luggage. Flexibility is essential, with availability required for a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and at least one overnight shift per week as required.

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- Background in child and youth care, social work, psychology, education, nursing, or a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with children or adolescents.
- Valid class IV driver’s license; or willing and eligible to obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification; or willing to obtain within three (3) months of employment.
- Certification in English as an Additional Language instruction preferred.
- Additional language proficiency considered an asset.
- Positive, energetic, and approachable demeanor.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Caring, nurturing, trustworthy while setting clear boundaries.
