Sustainable Programs Coordinator, Campus Sustainability Office

The Campus Sustainability Office (CSO) is responsible for UWinnipeg’s sustainability performance. This involves working with campus stakeholders, coordinating the tracking and reporting of key quantitative and qualitative metrics and developing, maintaining and improving sustainability programs and initiatives. The department also ensures that UWinnipeg continues to address local and global sustainability challenges. The **Sustainable Programs Coordinator is a full-time, continuing** position managing day-to-day aspects of a wide range of sustainability programs at UWinnipeg.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee waste diversion initiatives, by fielding requests, maintaining requests and planning and delivering training
- Coordinate student Sustainability Ambassadors, with support from the CSO Coordinator, by hiring, convening group meetings, setting priorities, and managing day-to-day operations.
- Create regular check-ins, tracking, and other systems and processes to monitor project progress, deliverables, and timelines.
- Conduct background research, coordinate data collection, analyze data, prepare and co-present reports summarizing findings and make recommendations.
- Monitor regulatory changes and their potential impact at UWinnipeg, recommend improvements to sustainability initiatives and objectives.
- Develop business cases and justification documentation.
- Plan and coordinate events and/or conduct presentations to students, community and business partners to encourage participation and engagement with campus sustainability efforts.
- Create or edit material publications, reports, the CSO website, social media, and other communications.
- With support, develop communication strategies for programs and initiatives that require student, staff, faculty and community participation.
- Maintain relationships with services providers and utility companies involved with waste management and energy provision, working with them to secure billing and weight/usage data on a regular basis, and navigating any issues that arise.
- Represent the CSO at community events.
- Act as a liaison between the CSO and student groups.
- Provide input in planning departmental programs and activities.
- Maintain office filing system, prepare, process and expedite administrative forms and maintain specialized files and/or records, maintain office supply inventory.
- Convene and co-facilitate meetings related to campus sustainability initiatives.
- Act as a liaison with other departments, external institutions, agencies and the general public by developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Oversee and/or maintain accounting functions.
- Respond to inquiries related to waste bins, order waste diversion related supplies, and work with Facilities to monitor waste diversion hallway and loading area recycling and compost collection.
- Support other programs, projects and initiatives as needed and directed by the CSO Coordinator.
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline with two years of directed related administrative experience.
- Project management or change management certification considered an asset
- Three years position-relevant employment experience required
- Experience with office procedures, event planning, research, data tracking, and communications preferred
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written; and strong interpersonal skills for working collaboratively
- Good organizational abilities and demonstrated abilities to plan, coordinator and establish work priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to make independent decisions and utilize problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public
- A strong understanding of sustainability concepts and environmental management frameworks (such as complex systems thinking) is an asset.
- Must be passionate, self-motivated and demonstrate the potential to work in a dynamic, exciting, fast-paced working environment
- Must have proven quantitative reasoning abilities and facility manipulating spreadsheets
- Must have proven analytical ability
- Must be capable of working with multiple simultaneous priorities
- Must be tactful and diplomatic
**An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.**
**Condition(s) of Employment**:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Occasional evening/weekend/overtime work is required to support initiatives.
**The salary range for this position will be from $42,387.80 to $58,513.00 annually.
