The Opportunity

The Optical Digital Signal Processing (ODSP) architecture team develops transmitter and receiver processing algorithms for the physical layer of high-speed optical data communication systems at serial speeds of 28G/56G/112G/224G and above. You will join a team of expert DSP and forward-error-correction (FEC) architects, working on direct-detect and short-reach-coherent optical communication systems for data-center interconnects.

Job Responsibilities

Designing and simulating DSP architectures for next-generation direct-detect and/or short-reach-coherent optical communication systems

  • Studying and proposing improvements to existing receiver and/or transmitter DSP architectures
  • Enhancing the system-level simulator and assessing link performance via simulation
  • Creating DSP hardware block specifications appropriate for RTL implementation
  • Participating in chip bring-up and performance optimization

**Requirements**

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience in industry is not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communication system modeling in Matlab, C and/or Python
  • Experience with either direct-detect/intensity-modulated or coherent optical communication systems
  • Knowledge of communication systems signal processing, especially FFE/DFE/MLSD, timing recovery, carrier-phase recovery or FEC
  • Knowledge of ADC-based DSP receiver architectures
