POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC recently completed a strategic review - setting a new ambition for the impact the bank wants to have on Canada and its entrepreneurs in the years ahead. BDC has also now set a bold aspiration to deliver on this purpose through a set of core missions that are central to Canada and its entrepreneurs. The Impact Program, along with BDC’s core activities, will elevate BDC’s contribution to the Canadian economy.

Central to this new strategy is the ambition to partner with FIs with the purpose of increasing our reach in the ecosystem. The bank is placing a great emphasis on our desire to develop important new formal indirect channels agreements, reaching a larger number of entrepreneurs. The Lead of Indirect Program Operations will be central to this, and accountable for the bank’s overall Indirect partnership operationalization with FIs and how we organize ourselves internally to be able to deliver on this Indirect mandate. The role will focus especially on defining and establishing the operational strategy to run the bank’s Impact Indirect programs, while also playing a key role in defining the partnerships themselves.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Responsible for establishing the overall BDC’s Impact Indirect operational strategy- Work with the BDC executives to establish the best way to work internally with other FIs and partners in the short and the long-term- Act as the operational liaison between the different partners and BDC, and support the Relationship Managers in nurturing the relationships with the established partners, with focus on continuous improvement and long-term efficiency- Support the negotiation and coordinate the implementation of formal partnership agreements- Ensure appropriate execution of the agreements by overseeing our internal process, and ensuring adequate communication and information exchange mechanisms between parties- Ensure appropriate onboarding of new partners to existing arrangements- Work closely with the Impact teams, supporting the identification of indirect market opportunities, recommendation of new products, and the establishment of relevant partnerships- Define how to scale the partnerships and how to operationalize the Indirect programs within BDC’s business lines

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Minimum requirement of bachelor’s degree in Management, Master’s degree in related field is an asset, or equivalent experience- Must have 5 + years of experience in structuring and delivering loan guarantees and/or other indirect products, full cycle, from program inception up to and including claim process- Understanding of financial operations, processes, and related technology implications- Strong business knowledge and acumen- Demonstrated ability to define operational strategy and processes- Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop talent and maximize the performance of a team, especially in an operational function- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingualism (French and English) is an asset- Travel may be requiredWith us, you'll be able to achieve the work/life balance you're looking for, with competitive working conditions and above-market flexible benefits.
