Dog Trainer/park Supervisor

We are looking for an **experienced dog trainer** to join the ambitious, energetic and very driven team behind the Happy Hound Spray & Play in Edmonton

This is more than just a dog trainer position, both in influence through the position and in the responsibilities of the position.
- **As a trainer,** you will help influence our communities, impact dogs’ and owners’ lives, raise awareness of the value of good and knowledgeable training and engagement opportunities, and will have a large reach through our communities.
- **Beyond that as a trainer, **you will be an integral part of the day-to-day operations at the Happy Hound and will help shape its culture, its services, and how we deliver to both our clients and our employees.

Leading up to open, there will part-time hours available while we collaborate and work on the programs that we will be rolling out upon open. Once open, we have planned this position to be full-time, but for the right person can be flexible with part-time hours.

Flexibility in hours available to work, especially in the opening months, is required, as we figure out the optimal schedule for training services in the park and opportunities for private training opportunities and demand.

As we progress, there is room for this position to focus more solely on training services with commission pay (class, in-park, private, etc) and less on in-park or employee oversight.

**Professional Experience Requirements**:
Dog training:

- Have your CPDT-KA, VSA-CDT, KPA-CDT or DBTMc with at least two years’ training experience or a minimum of one year of dog training experience with several years’ experience within the dog care industry (daycare or boarding environment)
- Espouse modern positive-reinforcement training methods

Other:

- At least one year experience in a supervisor, management, or employee-building or leadership position in any industry

**The position**:

- You will collaborate with Management on the programs and services we offer, including our park program, our dog daycare program, and our training services (in-park, class, and private one-on-one sessions) and will implement and oversee the programs and schedule.

**Ongoing responsibilities**:

- Working in small dog luxury daycare, including overseeing evaluation program, daily programs and training employees on fulfilling responsibilities. This daycare is a luxury small-dog daycare with a maximum capacity of less than 20 dogs.
