Overview:
The Innovation and Product Development Specialist will oversee the effective management of innovation and product development, implement testing programs to support the Quality Control and Development department on new sustainable products, solutions, innovative digital technology, mix optimization, raw materials characterization, concrete mix and aggregate product qualification. Testing for major projects, products and solutions. Provide expertise and troubleshooting support to the operation.

Safety**:Responsible for the implementation of the Lafarge Safety Policies, and Compliance with Government Legislation, as well as training and orienting departmental staff, with a specific focus on behaviors and culture.
- **Concrete and Aggregates Product Performance**:Perform lab trials and testing of new products & solutions and new mix designs in support of utilization of new concrete in RMX, and new aggregates products. Lead special product demonstrations, samples and mock-up preparation, applicator training (including placing and finishing activities). Prepare and perform formulation tests that support the creation, development and improvement of new sustainable concrete mixes and new sustainable. Perform duties including: preparing and running lab/plant formulation trials, cylinder/beam preparation, materials sampling of aggregates, concrete and soil, testing & data logging.
- ** Concrete and Aggregates Product Testing**: Perform all materials and durability tests in compliance with CSA and ASTM requirements. The incumbent works with the Lab team, the tests executed at the Lab involve but are not limited to: fresh, hardened, and durability of concrete tests, RCC, OGDL and pavement materials tests, aggregates tests and cement mortar tests. As required, maintains the calibration files and maintenance/servicing files for lab equipment and processes. Assist in the maintenance of the laboratory buildings and property. Must be familiar with standard repair techniques and proper routine maintenance procedures for the various pieces of laboratory equipment. Innovation regarding equipment and procedures is an important part of this position.
- ** Concrete and Aggregates Product Development**: Prepare and perform formulation tests that support the creation, development and improvement of new and existing innovative, sustainable products & solutions. Perform lab trials and testing of new products and new mix designs in support of utilization of long and alternative aggregate products. Prepare and perform new mix designs in support of growing special products and solutions such as RCC and filler. Prepare and perform formulations to improve existing performance of standard and VAP mixes.
- ** Sales/Operations Support**: Provide expert customer support to both internal & external customers including; troubleshooting activities with VAP representatives, field sales support and quality incident investigation and resolution with sales and QC teams, as well as identifying VAP opportunities and potential innovation and product improvement opportunities for customers and job sites. Provide technical expertise and develop lab & field test programs for project pre-qualification and troubleshooting. Develop quality and product best practices for QC, sales and operations and support programs with both field and regional labs to benchmark Lafarge RMX & Aggregates material performance vs. competitors to effectively market our products. Develop, implement and deliver product performance training programs for sales and operations staff.
- ** Reporting**: Formally reports daily activities and results to the supervisor and ensures timely data entry and timely reporting. Review specifications, prepare and deliver technical documents, presentations and training materials. Interpret test results & recommend changes and next steps. Analyze and compare test results with specifications, tolerances and targets. Report any deviations or trends immediately to the manager.
