**JOB SUMMARY**

Niagara Region has a Temporary, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Intern/Student (co-op) position for up-to 35 hours per week available within the Corporate Strategy and Innovation Division starting in January 2025.

This position will assist with implementing Niagara Region’s DEI Action Plan. The Action Plan is aimed at improving practices to promote social inclusion, establish policies to eradicate all forms of racism and discrimination, and to promote human rights and diversity within the Niagara Region. Areas of responsibilities will include assisting with administrative duties such as scheduling meetings and taking minutes; supporting inclusive communications of significant dates; reviewing policies and programs with a DEI lens; supporting staff training; and assisting with evaluation and writing reports.

**EDUCATION**
- Completion of a high school diploma or equivalency (ex. GED), plus
- Recently graduated (within 12 months) from a post-secondary program, preferably in a Master’s program in one of the following related academic fields: Community Health, Social Sciences, Humanities or a related field of study, or
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and preferably in a Master’s program in one of the following related academic fields: Community Health, Social Sciences, Humanities or a related field of study

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods

**SKILLS**
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to work in a team, as well as self-directed and/or with mínimal supervision
- Self-motivated, confident, and responsible
- Ability to handle confidential data, information, and sensitive issues
- Demonstrated project management and time management skills
- Experience with conducting, analyzing, and reporting qualitative and quantitative research

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Must provide proof of successful completion of high school
- Must provide proof of enrollment in a related post-secondary program (student/co-op) or completion of a related post-secondary program (intern)
