Job description

Under the authority of the immediate superior, the incumbent performs tasks related to mechanical maintenance on all equipment, machinery and vehicles of the municipality. The work consists of inspecting, repairing and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic components of the equipment and vehicles entrusted to him.

Specific tasks

Performs inspection and maintenance work on vehicles and equipment (maintenance program: P.E.P.). Completes reports when required by the S.A.A.Q.
Identifies malfunctions and makes the necessary adjustments, tune-ups and repairs
Performs inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance based on hours of operation/mileage of vehicles and machinery
Performs various basic work on mechanical systems
Executes repairs according to the indications provided in the various instruction manuals
Installs, maintains and repairs ancillary equipment
Tests repaired or newly installed vehicles and equipment. Performs the adjustment and corrects any anomaly.
Performs metal cutting work when necessary. Performs arc, gas and mig welding
Installs knives on different snow removal equipment
Installs the tires on the different vehicles
Responds to service calls on the road.
Complete work orders and inspections required by the department
Also drives a service vehicle, keeps everything in good working order and cleanliness and performs pre-departure checks
Must take the necessary measures to protect his health, safety and physical integrity and that of his colleagues or any other person who is on the premises or

nearby
Maintain vehicle maintenance logs
Controls and manages the inventory of tools, supplies and equipment for which he is responsible
Responsible for the order and cleanliness of the municipal garage

Professional experience and skills

Holds a valid class 3 driver's license (class 1, asset)
5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the maintenance of heavy vehicles
Demonstrate autonomy, team spirit and efficiency
Be wiling to work, if necessary and in case of emergency, outside of regular working hours.

Academic background/requirements

Holds a diploma of professional studies in heavy vehicle mechanics or construction machinery mechanics
Any combination of education and experience may be considered

Wage conditions

The salary scale starts at $28.61/h depending on experience
Insurance and group RRSP
Annual raise in accordance with the collective agreement in force
