Job Details What you will doSupporting Johnson Controls' Data Center Solutions (DCS)/Silent-Aire business, you will be directly responsible for leading a small team along with the planning and designing of construction projects. You will develop and plan the design of all major projects while setting and maintaining the established budgets.You will also lead performance management, preparing bidding documents which include proposed design and price of new product, hiring, recruiting, and ensuring training necessary for projects is completed as well as coordinate and direct projects and staff, and set goals, budgets, and timelines for active projects.How you will do itMonitor engineering aspects of facility start-ups; ensure project start-up plans and required documentation are completed and coordinated with Operations and Maintenance Department personnel.Prepare the annual budget request for the program; estimate staffing, and equipment supply needs based upon recent trends and planned activities and monitor expenditures.Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts.Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department, service, laboratory, or firm.Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.Direct and coordinate the development of long
- and short-range construction programs based on sound engineering and economic principles, to ensure assignments and projects are completed safely and efficiently.Establish a construction schedule consistent with available engineering and construction work-hour resources.Direct the coordination of special projects for the Mechanical Engineering Department.Supervise bid process; after budget approval, assign projects to engineering staff; set priorities and adjust workload accordingly.Prepare and update project engineering procedures including description of the project administration process and contract documentation guidelines.Ensure projects are implemented in accordance with purchasing, Request for Proposal (RFP) and contracting procedures.Provide technical oversight and coordination of project mechanical engineering work, through project coordination meetings and other means.Monitor progress against project schedules and budgets; recommend allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals.Review inspection reports and assists in resolution of field construction problems.Authorize or recommend change orders and claims resolution; represent in construction contract dispute resolution meetings.Other projects and duties as assigned.What we look forRequired:Mechanical Engineering degree (BSc.
