**Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia** is currently searching for a **Manager, Governance and Policy** to join our team in Burnaby The Manager, Governance and Policy plays a key role in establishing good governance practices across the organization by leading ongoing development of governance processes and procedures, including the development and maintenance of a policy management framework. The role is responsible for managing the delivery of the organization’s governance functions, including Board nominations, Board Elections, and the Annual General Meeting, and holds responsibility for planning the Board Onboarding Program and managing governance policy work. This role also provides governance support to the organization’s sub-committees and supports the development of the Board’s forward calendar. **WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING** - Manages governance policy work by staying current with governance trends and leading practices. Provides expertise on research, analysis, interpretation of trends and leading practices; considers feedback from stakeholders in the development and renewal of policies and bylaws. - Plays a key role in ensuring good governance practice across the organization and aims to support the Board and Statutory Committees in creating outcomes that support the public interest, prevent harms, and uphold the quality of practice while ensuring the organization is a fair, responsive and effective regulator. Creates processes to consider the regulatory impact of policy decisions. - Responsible for establishing a policy management framework for the organization to ensure consistency in policy development and defined parameters for policy updates, review cycles, approval processes and tracking. - Manages the work of the Governance Sub-committee by providing support and guidance to the Chair and committee members, works with the Director to plan the Sub-Committee’s annual work plan, prepares agendas and meeting materials to support the work of the Sub-Committee. - Manages the work of the Nomination Committee by providing support and guidance to the Chair and committee members. - Manages the Board Election on an annual basis in accordance with the board-approved election policy, bylaws and Act. - Working with the Director and the Executive Assistant to the Board, designs, plans, and manages delivery of the Board Onboarding Program for newly-elected members, including preparation of orientation materials. - Manages the Annual General Meeting (AGM) through planning, organizing, executing, and facilitating day-of delivery. Works cross-departmentally with the Executive, Communications, Information Systems, the Board, and others to ensure AGM success. - Supports the Director in ongoing Board Management and planning the Board’s forward calendar. Provides governance support/advice as required. - Manages staff with accountability for hiring, training, and coaching; conducts all aspects of performance management. - Other duties as assigned by management. **WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE** The successful applicant will possess the following: - Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Public Policy, or similar required. - GPC.D certification is preferred. - 5-7 years progressive relevant experience in corporate governance functions and policy work. - Experience in developing and implementing governance policy, procedures, and standards. - Ability to work with complex bodies including committees, boards, government, and inter-organizational groups. - Ability to build strong relationships and engage both internal and external stakeholders; ability to manage complex relationships with senior stakeholders. - Ability to understand and comply with relevant legislation. - Experience managing and getting results from a team. **WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU** Each member of our team enables us to deliver on our vision of "modern regulation for a resilient world".
