**Introduction**

This position reports to the Laboratory Operations Supervisor. The distillation technician is responsible for carrying out decarboxylation and distillation processes within the refining process. This role will perform day-to-day duties in compliance with SOPs and Health Canada Regulations.

**Position Overview**
- Handling large volumes of winterized crude and distillate.
- Operation and preventative maintenance on state of the art distillation equipment
- Operation and preventative maintenance on decarboxylation equipment
- Data collection, analysis and meticulous record keeping
- Follow SOPs pertaining to all processes
- Perform sanitation activities as per GPP requirements
- Perform distillation tasks as assigned by manager in accordance to relevant SOPs
- Ensure 100% compliance with QA requirements during day-to-day activities
- Identify improvement opportunities and report issues in order to maximize efficiency, quality and yield while ensuring safety and reliability
- Sample preparation for all required analytical testing
- Assist with developing and maintaining distillation tools
- Detailed record keeping of batch data per Health Canada regulations
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- B.Sc in Chemistry or related disciplines, B.Eng in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Technology Diploma required
- 1+ years laboratory, production/manufacturing, or pharmaceutical experience
- Basic distillation knowledge acquired through academic schooling or experience
- Experience within Cannabis industry is preferred
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety while operating process equipment
- Positive attitude with strong communication skills
- Strong time management skills including ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Shows initiative and ownership of work and willingness to learn
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Physically fit; standing and/or sitting will be required for long periods of time and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Required to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to work various shift schedules as required

**COVID PRECAUTIONS**:
This role is performed on site at our production facility and Motif provides all required PPE and has continued all safety protocols: a well-fitted mask must be worn at all times while indoors and staff are to remain 2M+ apart, COVID screening must be completed every day prior to entering the facility and we are moving to mandatory vaccination status.
