Role Description

Alco Energy Canada is accepting resumes for the Chemical Lab Technology Co-Op position for a four (4) month placement. The successful candidate will report to the Lab Manager or designate.

The Chemical Lab Technician – Co-Op will primarily provide support with sample testing in the Corn Receiving Area. This position will also shadow the whole Quality team to understand procedures/standards and document analysis while learning all lab equipment and understanding the fermentation process, while comprehending the importance of adhering to our Quality Assurance Program. This position also works closely with the Operations team to learn, and practice varied tasks to ensure ethanol and co-products/distillers' grain adheres to quality standards and health and safety practices.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:


• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.


• Must be a full-time registered student in a recognized post-secondary program in a lab/chemistry related field.


• Ability to work rotating shift schedule, including weekends.


• Demonstrated:

o effective communication and organizational skills,

o a keen interest in learning all lab equipment and understanding the

fermentation process,

o a strong learning capacity and attention to detail,

o comprehension in the importance of adhering to our internal Quality

Assurance Program,

o teamwork and problem-solving skills, and

o proficiency in all forms of written communications.


• Proven positive attitude.


• Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and work prioritization skills.


• Fluent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.


• Knowledge of Microbiology is an asset.

Wage: $17.60/hr
