**Shouldice Hospital in Thornhill**, the leader in hernia repair surgery, is looking for a permanent full-time General Maintenance Worker. This position will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance including groundskeeping duties.

**Duties**:

- Perform necessary repairs, maintenance and groundskeeping duties as assigned.
- Mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, minor electrical, minor
plumbing, repairs of hospital equipment, and painting to name a few.
- The ability to use a variety of hand, power tools and yard equipment.
- Perform drywall repairs and painting, as required.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on hospital facilities.
- Comply with OHSA safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform daily ground and lawn maintenance including gardening, raking, blowing leaves
and snow removal.
- Liaise with contractors and external vendors, as required.
- Rooftop units to be maintained (filters cleaned/washed) and working from high heights.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Hours of work 8:00 am
- 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday.
- On call rotating snow removal, some weekends as required.

**Experience Required**:

- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of building.
- Building trades’ certificate, or equivalent, an asset.
- Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing,
climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with others.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
- Experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Driver license a must.
- Ability to pass required training programs i.e., Kapota, Heights, and WHIMIS.
