Currently, Miller Transit conducts operations under a long-term contract with the Regional Municipality of York. Under this contract, it operates and maintains more than 150 municipally-owned buses, and provides modern, efficient transit services to more than 600,000 residents in the communities of Markham, Richmond Hill and Stouffville. The York Region Transit fleet includes a broad range of vehicles of different makes, models, sizes and configurations. The entire fleet comprises of the new-style, low-floor, wheelchair accessible buses. Over 30 years of proven operating experience

**Responsibilities**:In the position of Dispatch Clerk your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Answer telephones and communicate through mike system
- Data entry, filing, and faxing
- Distribute work to drivers from a remote location
- Operate dispatch trailer when in use
- Communicate Operator complaints immediately to on-street Transit Inspectors and Supervisors
- Ensure that all busses are out/in to meet Peak and Off-Peak requirements.
- Assign buses and cover drivers as directed
- Work closely with Inspectors and Shop employees assigned to the bus parking
- Track the attendance, vacations, and leaves of absence for hourly employees
- Manage mobile devices, including the coordination of repairs and change requests.
- Provide administrative support to the operations, dispatch office, safety and training, and transit shop as required
- Assist the safety and training department with programs such as the honor roll, take-two, and safety awards
- Manage the 407 billing and equipment for vehicles in the fleet
- Assist with the Lost & Found process from intake to returning items to customer
- Other duties as assigned
- Effective communication in the English language with customers and Operator in the course of duties including comprehension of written instructions, policies and procedures, and completion of any required written reports and forms.
- Possess strong computer skills (experience in Microsoft Office)
- Must have a G Driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of the routes and transit system (experience with Presto and INIT system)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Previous customer service experience essential
- Commitment to participate in on-going training
- Ability to lift 10lb. clip board bin

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
