**Job description**

Alma Engineering Inc. is one of the leading connection design firms within Ontario. Alma Engineering aims to provide accurate and well Engineered shop drawings for erection of structural and miscellaneous steel framing, along with detailed fabrication and single part drawings for use during the fabrication process.

As a detailer, you will be in charge of modelling structural steel elements based on Architectural and Engineering drawings. This includes main element modelling, connection modelling, creating detail drawings with sections and details from the manually generated model, preparing drawing sets for use and submission and incorporating Alma Engineer's general details throughout the process.

As Alma Engineering has grown exponentially over the years, we are looking to expand our drafting team with strong and efficient individuals looking to partake in preparation of detailed steel drawings.

A Structural Steel Modeler’s role is to effectively produce accurate and complete detail drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel, within the estimated time as set out by the project plan.

**To qualify for this position**:

- Strong knowledge of steel detailing.
- Working knowledge of digital drafting software.
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings.
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Will work well with each staff person, be likeable and humble in approach.
- Strong written / verbal communications skills in the English language within the drafting team.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:

- Read and interpret design drawings.
- Use a series of available softwares for detailing, modeling and design.
- Create erection drawings with all relevant information for approver and site installer.
- Attention to details specifically within the changes and revisions to existing drawing.
- Ensuring that completed drawings have been reviewed and comply with companies’ fabrication and erection needs (as per contract).
- Double check steel member information by referencing back to contract drawings.
- Create and maintain standard connection details to ensure easy assembly on site.
- Managing the preparation and coordination of assembly drawings and erection plans.
- Draft concise RFI’s if further information / clarification is needed.
- Implement design impacts for changes issued through SI’s and CCN’s.
- Ability to work off most up to date information, staying on top of incoming revisions.
- To be knowledgeable in all facets of your own projects.

**Salary**: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
