Reporting to the shift Lead Hand, the primary function of this position is to be a shift equipment operator at our wood pellet mill, working in an efficient, safe manner to maximize run time and plant production.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor production line equipment.
- Follow all safety and lockout procedures for the equipment being used.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the job, ensuring all PPE is maintained & working properly.
- Follow all Department of Labour and company rules & regulations.
- Proactive communication with other operators and key Pellet Plant personnel.
- Complete visual inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- As directed, carry out or assist in equipment repairs and perform plant lubrication & hourly inspections.
- Report any damage to equipment or buildings occurring on shift to the Lead Hand.
- Strive to meet production requirements.
- Work to ensure pellet quality meets or exceeds contract targets.
- Perform other duties, as requested by Lead Hand, Maintenance Lead and/or Pellet Mill Manager.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

- Commitment to a safe work culture.
- 1 - 2 years of experience working in a plant environment, ideally in the Pellet Mill Industry.
- Knowledge of operating mill equipment, systems and mill production methods is an asset.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment is an asset.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Ability to prioritize issues by level of importance and work independently.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to communicate at all levels.

This full-time position requires 12 hour rotating shifts; 4 days on/4 days off; days/nights in a 24 hr/7 days per week continual operation manufacturing facility.
While performing duties, the employee will be exposed to seasonal weather conditions; moving mechanical equipment; working at heights; airborne dust and high noise levels, requiring masking & hearing protection in certain areas; high voltage electrical equipment, requiring precaution and lock-out training provided on-site.
