**What does PLANT MANAGER do?**
Plan ,organize, direct and control the daily operations of the manufacturing/productions of windows of the whole plant.
Maintain optimization of all operations within the plant.
Ensure each employee clearly understands the requirements outlined in each work assignment regarding quantity, quality and schedule.
Ensure manufacturing schedules are maintained in accordance with the established requirements in order to meet customers’ delivery requirements.
Monitor and maintain a standard of quality within all products in order to meet customers’ quality requirements.
Make recommendations which would enable the achievement of greater efficiency of the production of windows.
Delegate specific work assignments to subordinates/supervisors.
Monitor and delegate supervisors to inform employees on a regular basis of Company Policies, Practices and Procedures.
Convey and monitor expectations of performance standards to subordinate supervisors and all employees on a regular basis.
Ensure all personnel understand the standard of performance of his/her position and receive adequate training, counseling and coaching to meet the standards.
Coordinate with other departments (such as customer service, purchasing, accounting and maintenance service) to facilitate the smooth operation of the company.
Delegate supervisors to monitor individual employee’s progress to ensure that performance improvement plans are adhered to.
Investigate and discuss any employee disciplinary actions with Human Resources, and undertake the appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.
Participate in hiring and related employment decisions with Human Resources.
Monitor and control attendance management. Delegate to supervisors for maintenance of employees attendance at an acceptable level.
Ensure a work environment where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are the standard. (Maintain fair labour practice and sound employee relations).
Communication Skills:
Communicate clearly all job information to subordinates/supervisors/employees thereby reducing misunderstanding.
Seek out necessary information to accomplish job responsibilities and standards of performance.
Ensure that the president and Vice-President are fully informed of all current job -related matters.
Health and Safety:
Administer all health and safety programs in accordance with the Company’s Health AND Safety Policy, Procedures and Standards; as well as the provisions and regulations in Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
Monitor supervisors in the implementation and enforcement of safety procedures, rules, safe practices and health and safety standards within their areas of supervision in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
Perform regular audits of all Health and Safety programs to ensure that the objectives of the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, Procedures and Standards; and the provisions and regulations in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, are developed, implemented, distributed and maintained current.
Delegate and monitor supervisors in the protection and promotion of the health and safety of employees in their respective areas of supervision by conducting regular safety talks and training.
Ensure that all accidents/incidents are reported and reviewed in detail, including those of a minor nature, and to ensure that immediate corrective action is taken and that preventative measures are implemented.
Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective action taken and monitor the preventative measures regularly.
Ensure that the safe operating procedures are established for each machine area in the plant, and that the procedures are readily available to all personnel.
Ensure that all supervisors receive adequate training and knowledge regarding all aspects of accident prevention and health hazards.
Ensure that First Aid Requirements, as prescribed by current federal and provincial legislation, are complied with and maintained.
Maintain a high level of communication regarding all aspects of accident prevention activities.
Develop and demonstrate a positive “health and safety” attitude and working climate.
When equipment is modified, or new equipment is installed, review the engineering design criteria to ensure the necessary attention has been given to emergency stops, guards, lock-outs, fumes and noise levels.
