**Executive Correspondence Unit**
**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the manager of the ECU, the main responsibility of this position is to review incoming requests, conduct research by reaching out to ministry divisions or other ministries (for input if required), and work with a team to route the inquiries, monitor activities and timelines, and ensure the DMO receives responses in a timely way. A second but also high-priority responsibility of the position is to provide leadership to the unit's administrative staff, including serving as an option for escalation of issues from the Minister's Office.
This position works with the ECU and DMO teams and colleagues within the department, as well as with contacts across all ministries, to ensure the most effective flow of information back to Albertans.
As Team Lead, ECU, Issues Coordinator, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities within the DMO:
- Oversee the incoming requests/assignments to the ECU shared mailbox account.
- Provide the manager with accurate and timely information on highly sensitive issues or trends.
- Work with Ministers’ and Deputy Ministers’ offices, and divisional ARTS leads on extensions or other changes to action requests.
- Supervise and lead the Correspondence Specialist team to provide guidance and ensure tasks are completed.

Develops strong working relationships with program contacts and understands who to reach out to for information. Forms connections with correspondence staff in similar roles in other departments and attends meetings with government correspondence managers in the manager's absence.
- **Drive for Results**: Takes steps to acquire knowledge of Education and government as a whole in order to triage requests appropriately. Provides feedback to writing staff, ensuring correspondence and other written materials exceed government guidelines and standards. Helps to develop resources for the department and helps to lead training sessions, including writing workshops for department staff.
**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related field like communications, journalism, political science, or public administration, plus four years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience or one year of experience for one year of education.
