St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton is an Academic Health Science Centre affiliated with McMaster University and a tertiary referral centre for Central South Ontario offering services at three main sites, including St. Joseph's Hospital (Charlton Campus), the Centre for Ambulatory Health Services (King Campus), and the Margaret and Charles Juravinski Centre for Integrated Healthcare (West 5th Campus).

The Physician Assistant (PA) works collaboratively with the interprofessional Chronic Pain Management Clinic team to deliver healthcare to patients. Within Chronic Pain Management Clinic, the PA is authorized to extend physician services through the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, intervention, referral, management, treatment, and evaluation of patients requiring pain management health services.

The St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Chronic Pain Management Clinic is part of an academic teaching hospital that supports interprofessional learning for multiple health professional programs, including PA students, NP students, medical students, nursing students, and others.

This position would entail working within the dynamic Chronic Pain Management Clinic team to assess, intervene and treat patients in the clinic. Working with Physicians, various clinical specialties, allied health and nursing, the Physician Assistant role is critical to timely patient care and optimized efficient flow. The Chronic Pain Management Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is also supported by a unique interdisciplinary team including social work, kinesiology, psychology, and nursing. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Chronic Pain Physicians and will provide a broad range of medical care to a varied patient population.

**QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS**
- Graduate of an accredited Canadian or US PA training program
- Certification (CCPA or PA-C) or eligible for certification through the PA Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or United States (NCCPA)
- Demonstrates superior communication skills
- Demonstrates support for the Mission Statement of St Joseph’s Healthcare
- Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team environment
- Able to work independently within their scope of practice and within the physician-PA relationship
- Willing to work a variety of shifts to support optimal patient care, although the clinic is predominantly operations on weekdays, some evening and weekends shifts may be required
- Previous chronic pain clinic experience is preferred
- Will bring energy and enthusiasm to this position
