**Position Description**:
CGEn, funded by the Canada Foundation of Innovation (CFI) and leveraging investments from Genome Canada and other stakeholders, is a genomics network with linked-laboratories in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and users and collaborators spanning all of Canada, and internationally. CGEn’s mission is to enable Canadian leadership in fundamental and applied genome science research, most notably through the genome-wide sequencing of RNA and DNA, epigenomics and metagenomics in humans and other species, as well as all aspects of managing and analyzing the complex datasets generated.
The primary role of the CGEn EDI Manager is to lead activities relating to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) within CGEn research projects and within the CGEn team, enhancing CGEn’s ability to support and widely impact the Canadian genomics ecosystem. The position reports to the CGEn Director, Partnerships & Programs and works closely with the CGEn Central Team as well as institutional partners.
**Here’s What You’ll Get To Do**:
- Addressing EDI within research programs_
- Work with researchers to integrate Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) into research programs; help develop ways to ensure representative recruitment of underrepresented research participants; assist in the development of Knowledge Transfer initiatives to reach diverse audiences.
- Conduct literature reviews and use previous knowledge and experience to consider how and whether EDI can be considered for specific areas of research; embed leading edge EDI best practice in research methods, experimentation and laboratory settings.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of CGEn projects and programs - identifying strengths and needs and integrating EDI considerations in existing and emerging research.
- Promote and assist with the formation of diverse research teams.

- Contribute to a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment.
- Build relationships across the organization as well as design and lead initiatives to systematically gather EDI-related data, to understand new and ongoing issues/barriers/opportunities (recruitment, training, mentoring, and inclusion).
- Perform intersectional, multivariate analyses on collected data, to better inform workplace experiences and systematic frameworks.
- Perform longitudinal sampling to inform a data-driven approach to assess and adjust organizational culture.
**Here’s What You’ll Need**:
- Deep understanding of EDI policies, legislations and best practices; demonstrated proactive approach to EDI issues.
- Able to organize, integrate and maintain complex data collected from various sources.
- Experience researching, writing and delivering strategic documents (including supporting policies, practices and action plans); experience in the support of change management initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and obtain research funding from local, national, international and/or charity-based granting agencies; understanding of Canadian granting agency EDI requirements and considerations.
- Experience working in an academic, healthcare, or research organization.
- Demonstrated collaborative approach and ability to work cooperatively to implement EDI best practices and deliver on EDI objectives.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and project-management skills; ability to liaise with administrators, senior management, stakeholders and researchers from a variety of disciplines.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
