Shipping Clerk

We currently have an opening for a Shipping Clerk for a 1 year Maternity Leave.
This role is primarily responsible for coordinating shipping activities with the Distribution Manger and the shipper/receivers to ensure timely shipments and advising customer service if there is a delay in meeting our customer order commitments.
This position is responsible to organize work for others, preparing paperwork and/or customs documents for shipments ensuring cost effective shipping/courier services. As well as arranging courier shipments as needed.
This role, supports the work of shipping and receiving personnel performing related work.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Works with the Distribution Manager to schedule the workload for the shipping department to meet our objective of 98% on time shipments, in the most cost-effective way.
- Prepares shipment paperwork for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container.
- Prepares bills of lading and customs paperwork; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Completes invoicing process in NAV for all sales orders shipped each day; completes receiving process in NAV for materials received each day.
- Verifies incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
- Records discrepancies or damages for incoming shipments and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
- Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents.
- May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
- On occasion, will be required to travel between our Brampton and Mississauga locations.
- Prioritizing the transfers to ship out to MTL and Tupelo, delegating the workload to the dock workers
- Works closely with other departments to ensure rushes and priorities are met as per customers’ requirements
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Leads, guides, and trains employees performing related work.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma an asset
- A basic understanding of all relevant company procedures. Possessing a cooperative and flexible attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- The incumbent must possess strong oral and written communication skills in order to communicate with supervisors and co-workers etc.
- **1-2 years previous shipping & receiving clerical experience is an asset.**
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
