**As a Sever/Bartender, **you are an ambassador for the exceptional service and cuisine that are hallmarks of our Food & Beverage experience Your role is incredibly important in the success & repeat business to the Conference Centre. Your primary responsibility is to support the Sales & Conference Manager in providing exemplary customer service to each and every guest; specifically those utilizing the Conference Centre. We are located in a small town, and word of mouth is the reason we are so successful. We want you to help us continue to grow

As a part of our award-winning team at the Best Western Plus in Walkerton, your responsibility will be to:

- Assist with nurturing and maintaining an attention-to-detail oriented serving experience for banquet and meeting functions.
- Set up for events with duties that include but are not limited to; polish silverware and dishes; arrange table settings; put up buffet and decorations etc.
- Serve food and beverage items to banquet guests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner; sometimes provide wine service with meals.
- Ensure that every guest feels cared for, valued and respected in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service.
- Clear tables at the appropriate time, take tablecloths and linens to laundry, break down & put away table set up.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by your manager or supervisor that pertain to the overall operation of the banquet department.
- Willing to work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled. Holiday pay is applicable.
- Work directly with customers by mixing and serving drink orders.
- Bartending shifts and serving shift sometimes require late nights and long shifts (8-13 hours per shift).
- Provide a pleasant drinking experience to customers.
- Serve drinks while maintaining a clean and sanitary bar area.
- Prepare and maintain ingredients by following recipes, when required.
- Adhere to proper alcohol handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Maintain appropriate labeling, dating and rotation of all beverage items.
- Ensure smooth operation of bar services during absence of supervisor.

Some skills that will be key to being successful in this role are:

- HIGH LEVEL ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS A REQUIREMENT.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is a requirement.
- Smart Serve Certificate is a requirement.
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm, respectful and courteous at all times.
- Teamwork approach to all duties and helpful attitude with co-workers.
- Previous experience in banquets/bartending at a hotel is preferred.

**As a Porter/Set-Up**, you are responsible to ensure that rooms in the Conference Centre are set and ready for guest use, and each shift is different. As a part of our award-winning team, some of your responsibilities will be to:

- Successfully set-up and tear-down banquet rooms for meetings and functions.
- Understand the hotel’s events, services and facilities.
- Refresh Conference Centre rooms as directed.
- Safely transport all equipment and store in the appropriate storage rooms (some heavy lifting required).
- Ability to read and understand instructions and diagrams for each event.
- Clean banquet rooms, vacuum, mop and dust as instructed.
- Previous experience in banquets at a hotel is preferred.
