**Position Summary**:
The Community Health Practice Consultant provides education, thought leadership and consultation on clinical practice services that includes orientation, training, in-service, clinical support and clinical competency assessment to nurses who provide health services to First Nations communities in British Columbia. Delivers professional nursing practice and program consultation supporting the development, implementation, and management of community based nursing programs.

**Responsibilities**:

- Plans, organizes, and delivers a comprehensive range of professional nursing services, including training, consultation, assessment, facilitation, and evaluation to support the development of knowledge and skills for Nurses.
- Collaborates with communities, partners, educators, FNHA employees and nurses to design and deliver education and training for health professionals and community health workers who provide health services to First Nations communities in BC.
- Provides clinical expertise to nurses and allied health workers to assist them in providing care and treatment services to individuals, families & communities.
- Provides orientation to Health Managers/Directors in respect of discretionary and mandatory nursing programs. Leads, prepares, maintains and distributes information in support of relevant health programs
- Utilizes a quality improvement approach when offering educational opportunities and resources in a variety of ways that meet the learning needs and styles of nurses to provide health services to First Nations communities.
- Develops nursing service options and plans that provide advice and support to First Nations managed health services in decisions on nursing service delivery, management, impacts and risk.
- Serves as an expert resource, and provides clinical advice with respect to community health nursing knowledge and skills development and onboarding for nursing staff, mentorship nurses, student nurses, and other health care personnel.
- Contributes to knowledge development in the field of health care through participation in research studies and a range of program development initiatives, as required.
- Provides oversight for the operations of projects and initiatives in the relevant program area by actively engaging in planning, evaluating and implementing new initiatives and supporting through the change management and transition process

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Eligibility or current registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
- Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP).
- Current certification in immunizations and communicable disease

**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:

- Three (3) years of experience in community/public health nursing providing clinical practice support and education to nurses or an acceptable combination of education, training and professional experience.
- Experience Nursing in First Nations communities
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
- Knowledge of concepts, principles and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including traditional, homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community.
- Knowledge of community and/or public health models and concepts.
