**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Include, but not limited to:

- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, lockers, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Polish silver accessories and metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
- Replace light bulbs.
- Replenish bathroom supplies with soap, paper products, and other necessary supplies.
- Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures, floors, and counters as needed.
- Empty and clean trash cans.
- Sort, count, and mark clean linens, and store them in linen closets.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
- Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
- To wash and hang drapes, and dust window blinds.
- Move and arrange furniture, and turn mattresses.
- Report on safety issues and the need for maintenance repairs.
- Receive and stock supplies in appropriate areas.
- Develop and standardize newer and improved methods of cleaning for better results at lower costs.
- Work cooperatively with all staff members.
- Perform related work as required.

**POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of the 10th school grade.
- Experience may be gained through functioning in a capacity requiring the performance of basic cleaning and custodial tasks. Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- General knowledge of modern housekeeping equipment, sanitation materials and procedures, modern laundry equipment and procedures;
- Infection control procedures and requirements; sanitary kitchen upkeep and cleaning procedures; cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment;
- Washing and wearing quality fabrics, mending techniques;
- Clerical record-keeping methods are sufficient to keep an inventory of supplies.
- All successful applicants must pass the Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Must be in good health and free from communicable diseases, and physically able to perform tasks related to the position.
- Must be free of allergies or conditions that may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral English.
- Ability to take direction and learn procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, empathy, patience, and concern in providing quality services to clients
