HUB Design Studio is a Toronto based industrial design firm creating brand-building products. Our collective of multidisciplinary talent bridges the gap between the creative world of Industrial Design and the technological world of manufacturing, while delivering creative business and design solutions to our clients.

HUB Design Studio is looking for a Model Maker/CNC Operator to join our Product Development team. S/he will be part of a multi-disciplinary group of product designers. The Model Maker will build models and prototypes that contribute directly to our products’ engineering feasibility, consumer usability, and quality assurance. This is a full-time position in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with designers and engineers to explore, innovate and execute the construction planning and fabrication of ID concept mockups and engineering prototypes.
- Machine prototype molds and components from 3-D model files supplied from engineering design.
- Design and construct fixtures for aiding in product quality testing.
- Use creativity and self-direction in designing, machining, and testing of prototypes and fixtures when standard methods do not apply.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Minimum 2 years industry experience.
- An Industrial Design or Mechanical Design degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with Model Shop equipment such as model board, wood, metal, plastics, urethane, saws, milling machines, routers, drill press, sanders, hand tools and similar materials and tools.
- Experience with CNC operation is an asset.
- Skilled on surface finishing, painting and coatings to replicated manufactured finishes.
- Able to explore a wide variety of prototype solutions, colours, finishes and materials.
- Proficiency in shop processes and safety procedures for tool use.
- Ability to estimate the level of effort for a task, and adhere to schedule and budget.
- Proficiency in general computer skills, PC / Windows environment experience.
- Knowledge of Solidworks or Fusion 360 design software.
- General knowledge of CAM programming.
- A lover of clean, modern design.

**Salary**: $23.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
