**Position summary**
The Sales Representative is responsible for developing new OEM and B2B accounts, expanding regional sales, and strengthening NorthStar Hydraulics’ market presence across Canada. This is a field-oriented role that rewards initiative, relationship-building, and sales performance.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Identify and pursue new OEM and B2B customers for hydraulic cylinders, including trailer manufacturers, equipment fabricators, distributors, and service companies.
- Conduct in-person and virtual visits to potential clients across Ontario and other provinces.
- Generate and follow up on quotations; negotiate pricing and close orders.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers, ensuring repeat business and satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, market trends, and competitor insights.
- Represent NorthStar Hydraulics professionally at trade events, customer visits, and meetings.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding forecasts, opportunities, and challenges.
**Territory**
- Canada-wide, with primary emphasis on Ontario and Quebec. Additional sales opportunities in Alberta, Manitoba, and other provinces may be pursued remotely or through scheduled travel.
**Performance Expectations**
- Actively visit and follow up with potential OEM and B2B customers.
- Build strong relationships that lead to regular quotes and orders.
- Provide brief weekly updates summarizing customer visits and opportunities.
- Represent NorthStar Hydraulics professionally in all interactions.
**Qualifications**
- 1-2 years of experience in B2B or equipment sales preferred, or equivalent exposure to mechanical or industrial products. Technical understanding of hydraulic or mechanical components.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, motivated, independent, and goal oriented.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
- Self-starter who thrives on independence and results.
- Basic computer or phone skills for quotes and follow-ups.
**Compensation Structure**
**1. Base Pay**
- Starting base rate**:$18/hour**.
- Employment includes a three-month probationary period. During this time, overall performance and sales activity will be reviewed.
- If key performance indicators (KPI) are met or exceeded, the employee may be eligible for an adjustment to base pay or an additional performance bonus, at the company’s discretion.
**2. Commission (Per Order Tiered Structure)**
Commission is earned on each confirmed order and increases with sales volume. Larger orders qualify for higher commission rates. Commissions are calculated on collected revenue and are paid monthly once customer payment is received (excluding taxes and shipping).
**3. Vehicle & Travel Compensation**
- A monthly vehicle allowance is provided to support travel within the sales territory. This covers routine fuel and vehicle use for client visits.
