**Position Summary**
The SQF Practitioner (Back Up) / Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for monitoring and maintaining food safety and quality standards throughout all stages of production, packaging, and distribution. This role ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and GFSI (SQF) standards, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and customer satisfaction.
The SQF Practitioner / SQF Practitioner (Back Up) / Quality Assurance Analyst is a member of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department and reports to the Owner and Consultant.
**Responsibilities**
- Perform daily pre-operational inspections and GMP checks in accordance with company programs
- Document findings, corrective actions, and follow-up measures accurately and on time
- Conduct environmental and product testing (e.g., swabbing equipment, drains, floors; E. coli and Salmonella sampling) and submit to the laboratory
- Review, verify, and maintain food safety and quality records (CCP, pre-op, operations, shipping/receiving, etc.) for compliance with regulations and industry standards
- Ensure effectiveness of traceability program, including daily coding of finished products; participate in mock recalls and audits
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality programs required for GFSI (SQF), customer, Halal, and external audits
- Prepare and verify export-related documentation for U.S. shipments
- Investigate consumer and customer complaints, perform trending analysis, and recommend corrective actions
- Support nonconformity investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up
- Lead, train, and support QA Technicians in their daily responsibilities; act as backup when needed
- Provide daily GMP and food safety training to production employees
- Perform calibration and verification of measuring devices (thermometers, scales, ATP meter)
- Communicate potential issues and solutions to QA Management and Consultants
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
**Additional Responsibilities**
- Manage updates and revisions to packaging\
- Oversee printing and delivery of packaging materials
- Maintain and monitor inventory of packaging materials
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 2 years of QA supervisory experience in the food industry, with strong knowledge of SQF programs and regulatory requirements
- In-depth knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GFSI), GMPs, and Quality Systems
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to document findings and data clearly, concisely, and accurately
- Proven ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced, cold production environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors, and production staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Team-oriented mindset with demonstrated leadership ability
- Availability to work weekends as needed
**ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS**:
HACCP Certified
PSQI certified Preferred
Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ Hours.
The work environment will be noisy and at a low temperature (around 3 degrees Celsius)
