GBC caters to single and multi-family residential building contractors and developers, as well as renovation and single permit customers in Calgary and surrounding areas. We are currently searching for an experienced full-time Estimator who will consistently demonstrate GBC’s passion for customer service and quality.

Position Description

Key

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform accurate material take-offs by reviewing blueprints and construction documents.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for materials and, where applicable, installation labor.
- Collaborate with the sales team to present quotes and ensure all customer requirements are considered.
- Develop a clear scope of work for each project based on customer specifications and site requirements.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams to clarify project details and requirements.
- Identify project risks, constraints, and any potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure all estimates are detailed, accurate, and align with customer and project specifications.
- Work with purchasing and suppliers to verify material availability and pricing.
- Track and manage multiple project timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and revision of quotes as needed.
- Maintain an organized record of estimates, orders, and correspondence for each project.
- Support customers with product knowledge, industry standards, and installation methods.
- Assist with any other duties as required to support the team and ensure project success.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as an Estimator in the building materials or construction industry.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to process data accurately.
- Knowledge of interior finishing materials such as drywall, millwork, hardware, etc.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical details to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations is an asset.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated success in customer service with a commitment to delivering accurate and timely estimates.
- Keen attention to detail and a strong aptitude for numbers, enabling precise material calculations.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and assist other team members when needed.

Education and/or Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in estimating or a related role in the construction or building materials industry.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Estimating, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience with estimating software or systems is preferred.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour, depending on experience
