**About the Organization**:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC) is a regional social planning and development organization serving Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the York Region. Working collaboratively with local communities, BANAC addresses regional needs through coordinated, culturally grounded efforts.

BANAC provides a range of innovative programs and services, including Family Wellness, Childcare, Seniors and Long-Term Care, Cultural Services, and Wholistic Healthcare. Healthcare services are offered through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team.

As a leader in Indigenous community development, BANAC continues to support social planning and community consultation to ensure the well-being of the region’s Indigenous populations.

The Accounting Clerk reports to the Finance Manager or designate and is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical services. This includes preparing A/R customer invoices, performing bank deposits, processing and monitoring payments, controlling expenses by receiving, matching, verifying, and reconciling invoices and statements in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.

**ACCOUNTING CLERK POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare A/R customer invoices, statements, collect receivables
- Bank duties, including bank deposits
- Post visa transactions, invoices, receipts and cheque requisitions
- Compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Verify, match supporting documents and ensure receiving approval
- Investigate and correct discrepancies if any
- Prepare vendor cheques for mailing
- Record all revenues/expenses and allocate them to correct programs

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ finance and accounting experience or directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Previous experience working within the Indigenous community, combined with knowledge of Indigenous cultural safety and Indigenous cultural practices.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.

**Information About Working at BANAC**:

- Work is typically performed in clinic, office, and community settings.
- Regular travel to meetings and communities will be required - vehicle an asset.
- Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement.
- Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage, or cedar.

Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:

- Worksite location
- Valid C.P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required.
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector.
