Reporting to the Manager, Student Life Operations, the Student Life Operational Support is responsible for the coordination of student life programming in Brampton, as well as assisting with health insurance for international students, at all Algoma University campuses.
This position will work in a collaborative environment and will be front line/front desk, student-centric, and service based. The expected hours for this position will be based on a 35-hour workweek but will be non-regular to accommodate service to students, events, etc.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Student Life Programming (55%)**
- Support events and activities for Orientation Week each semester.
- Support student life programming, activities, intramurals, tournaments, and other events to enhance student life and promote retention.
- Coordinate the logístical delivery of on-campus student events.
- Assist with the direction of student volunteers for Student Life events.
- Perform front-line customer service to students in the Student Life Center.
- Engage with students regularly to ensure a positive student experience.
- Identify and implement opportunities to receive and measure feedback from program participants.
- Works with the Marketing & Communications team to manage social media and other communication tools in order to promote student life activities.
**Student Insurance Support (45%)**
- Act as the University administrator for the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).
- Work with the Officer of the Registrar and the Finance department to provide updated lists of students to the UHIP provider for coverage.
- Respond to international student inquiries regarding UHIP coverage, and assist with the claims process.
- Educate incoming students on UHIP through pre-arrival webinars and in-person sessions.
- Provide feedback to UHIP on the student experience with the program.
- Advocate for changes to the program based on student feedback.
- Attend UHIP-provided education sessions for administrators.
- Ensure compliance with international student proof of insurance needs.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Undergraduate degree in any field, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing post-secondary student services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- CPR/First Aid certification is required.
- A minimum of one (1) certification in Mental Health response training (e.g. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, ASIST, MHFA, SafeTalk, or equivalent) is required.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to present to large groups of people.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills, and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, styles, and abilities.
- Ability to work independently for much of the work day.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Understanding of, and ability to uphold, confidentiality.
- Excellent use of technology for collaboration.
- Willingness to travel, as required.
- Willingness to work non-regular hours and varying shifts, as required.
- Vulnerable Police Sector Check is required.
**Salary Scale: $46,144 to $57,679 annually.**
