Hub Lead Construction

We are looking for a Hub Lead Construction based in London, Munich, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid or Canada.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Global Head of Construction, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing the Construction Europe Hub Line of Business (LoB) strategy while proactively supporting the development of the global LoB strategy. You will oversee the Construction Europe Hub portfolio to ensure the successful achievement of Allianz Commercial's global LoB targets. Additionally, you will lead Construction Europe Hub Underwriting staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive team environment. Building and maintaining strong relationships with our brokers and clients will be essential to your role.
**Some of your specific responsibilities could include**:

- Leading and managing the Regional Hub Europe underwriting team, with direct and matrix reports in each of the regions, and managing functional reports.
- Developing, monitoring, and achieving Financial Year Plans within the Hub.
- Managing cost center budgets within plan, including headcount alignment with GLoB and Regional MD.
- Developing and executing the Construction Hub Europe UW strategy, focusing on Underwriting Year profitability in line with the Segmentation strategy.
- Supporting the development of the Global Construction strategy in line with the Allianz Commercial CUO Team.
- Steering and controlling the Construction Hub Europe portfolio to drive achievement of financial targets (e.g., Topline GNWP, ISR, Combined Ratio, Expense, Commission).
- Driving the underwriting planning process and monitoring adherence to the plan.
- Proactively liaising with functional areas, including offshore/outsourced functions, to review performance of the end-to-end UW life cycle.
- Ensuring UW consistency and discipline, and adherence to all corporate guidelines and authority levels, including Functional Rules, Underwriting Authorities, corporate governance rules, and local regulatory framework.
- Handling referrals related to Functional Rule thresholds, Pricing Tools, and purchase of Reinsurance, all as set out in Construction FR and ad-hoc guidelines.
- Proactively supporting the development and implementation of new and modified products, as well as pricing tools.
- Supporting and facilitating the delivery of transformation workstreams.
- Proactively driving and supporting the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, and being the face of the LoB to local clients and brokers.
- Working collaboratively with the Global LoB Head and Global Product Leaders, respecting the matrix nature of regional strategy versus global technical responsibility.
- Maintaining executive contacts and accompanying the Underwriting of all core or strategic accounts.
- Positively representing Allianz Commercial internally within the Allianz Group and externally to the market.
- Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process, including Distribution, ARC, Claims, and Operations.

What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Law, or any other appropriate discipline.
- 10 years of experience in a senior underwriting or management position in the construction line of business.
- Significant experience in leadership and development of direct teams internationally and within complex global matrix environments.
- Well-recognized relationship building with brokers at peer group level and well-established within the local market.
- Expert understanding of regional/local Construction/Engineering insurance markets and competitor landscape.
- Expert understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
- Excellent ability to lead and manage a team of underwriters.
- Outstanding analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data to inform business strategies.
- Excellent ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB.
- Ability to design, develop, and implement consistent, robust wordings.
- Robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills to drive internal communication, strategy implementation, and organizational priorities.
- Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data-driven innovation is crucial.
- Flexible attitude, strong team player aligned with Allianz’s culture of inclusion.
- Fluent English skills are required; proficiency in any other languages (e.g., German, French) is a plus.
- Ideally, completion of a professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII).
