The role of the Underwriting Assistant is to provide the Underwriting Department and the Field Reps with manual rates as requested and to produce small non-refund renewals.
This position would report to the Assistant Manager in our Toronto Underwriting Department.
**What you will do**
- Timely and accurate Coding of Renewal sold rates on the mainframe, or arrange to send those rates to Group Policy Service (GPS)for coding (if rate structure is changing)
- Entering data for benefit plan design details and employee census into system
- Manipulation of data in Excel and adjusting output to include all non-standard plan design options in order to accurately calculate manual rates. Manually adjust output to include all non-standard plan design options.
- Assisting in calculation of manual rates for all renewals and in-force quotes
- Downloading reserves - Waiver of Premiums and Disabled Life Reserves
- Downloading Health Pooling reports as required
- Ordering reports/data for renewal / financial - including Experience and claims, death claims and BEN reports etc.
- Order Ad-Hoc reports in mainframe for internal and external customers
- Assist with processing closed / terminated Underwriting files for department
- Other special projects as required.
**What you will bring**
- Post-secondary College Diploma in a Business-Related Field
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a high volume of work while meeting fixed deadlines.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong Mathematical aptitude
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Group Benefit products would be an asset
