**Summary**:
We are currently recruiting a community-minded, team-oriented individual to join our Research team as a Research Assistant Summer Student. This position requires the ability to design and implement an independent statistical research project, in addition to assisting with ongoing Calgary Food Bank research projects.

**Description**:
The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals facing crisis. As the city’s main charitable food hub and the most accessible food bank, we have the capacity to serve families, individuals, and organizations to fight hunger.

**We are currently recruiting a community-minded, team-oriented individual to join our Research team as a Research Assistant Summer Student**. This position requires the ability to design and implement an independent statistical research project, in addition to assisting with ongoing Calgary Food Bank research projects.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Design and manage a research project, which will involve the use of statistical research methods
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation of findings
- Communicate the research findings (e.g. reports, data visualizations, presentations)
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings
- Offer support for other ongoing research projects
- Other duties as assigned

**Education and Experience Required**:

- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Statistics or a related field
- Experience in using statistical programming language (SQL, R, or Python)
- Strong proficiency in MS Office 365
- Well organized and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous experience of conducting independent research projects would be considered an asset

**Working Conditions**_:_**

This is a temporary full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. Working conditions are normal for an office environment and will require occasional visits to the warehouse.

Please note this is a Canada Summer Jobs paid position that is contingent upon grant funding. To be eligible for this position you must:

- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
