We're seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook (Cook I) to join our culinary team part-time. You will be instrumental in preparing, cooking, and presenting delicious and nutritious meals, ensuring the highest standards of taste, appearance, and food safety for our residents. **What You'll Do**:
As a key member of our culinary team at The Dunfield, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of menu items according to established recipes and requirements.
- Ensuring all dishes are palatable and visually appealing, meticulously garnishing food.
- Inspecting and tasting food regularly to maintain consistent quality standards.
- Accurately portioning and serving food to our residents.
- Following production sheets precisely to manage food preparation effectively.
- Coordinating work routines seamlessly with other cooks to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Assisting with inventory and ordering of food supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Strictly complying with all sanitary regulations and safe food handling guidelines during preparation.
- Maintaining production areas, storerooms, and refrigeration units in a consistently clean and organized condition.
- Cleaning and sanitizing your work area according to the established schedule.Communicating closely and collaborating effectively with the Executive Chef, the rest of the administrative team, and co-workers to ensure consistent service and high-quality operations.
**Who You Are**:
You are a meticulous and passionate culinary professional with a strong commitment to food quality and safety. To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- A minimum of 2 years of proven institutional cooking experience, demonstrating your expertise in a professional kitchen setting.
- A culinary degree, some culinary training, or equivalent related experience is highly preferred.
- Food Handler's Certification, showcasing your understanding of critical food safety practices.
- The ability to perform physical tasks common in a kitchen environment, including lifting items up to 50 pounds, moving about the restaurant, and handling food objects, pots, pans, plates, trays, and glasses.Comfort with considerable bending, stooping, and kneeling as required.
