Currently, we are seeking **Surface Blasters** to join our growing team in the Sudbury Basin. The key responsibilities of the Surface Blaster include but not limited to:

- Executing blasting duties in a safe manner by following blast design, laying pattern, achieving proper elevations, loading holes, and initiating and controlling the blast area in accordance with regulations and safety standards
- Determining the proper blast material to achieve desired surface preparation and profile according to specifications
- Maintaining general condition of all blasting equipment to ensure proper and safe operation and report any deficiencies to the site Supervisor
- Ensuring inventory is maintained and material is available to complete the job
- Handling the safe transportation of dangerous goods
- Maintaining general housekeeping and cleanliness of the job site to prevent hazards
- Complete all job tasks and pre-op checks in risk management software (sofvie)
- Providing coaching and training to the labourer(s) in order for he/she to assist with blasting activities
- Performing other duties as assigned by Supervisor

**Qualifications**
- Fully accredited in Surface Mining Common Core Program (# 770210)
- Valid Transportation of dangerous goods accreditation
- Minimum 3-5 years of surface mining/blasting experience
- Experience in construction, pre-shear/wall-split, open-pit blasting and/or quarrying is considered an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of surface mining and blast standards
- Proficient with laying pattern and accurately reading/understanding blasting plans to ensure blasting is completed according to specifications
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with mínimal supervision
- Computer literacy is an asset to utilize risk management software
- Committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
- Willing and able to undergo pre-employment testing as a condition of employment
- Must be willing to work at any site that Technica operates at
