Our passionate team of Developmental Service Professionals is committed to advancing inclusion for people who live with developmental disabilities in Norfolk-Haldimand, Ontario. In this role, you will work as part of a team in a home or program providing assistance to people in all aspects of daily living.

**Key Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Review background information, interview people we support to obtain case history, and prepare intake reports.
- Assess relevant skill strengths and needs of people.
- Assist people in sorting out options and developing plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance.
- Assess and investigate eligibility for social benefits.
- Refer people we support to other social services or assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal, medical, and financial assistance, housing, employment, transportation, daycare, and other services.
- Counsel people living in group homes and halfway houses, supervise their activities, and assist in pre-release and release planning.
- Participate in the selection and admission of people to appropriate programs.
- Implement life skills workshops, substance abuse treatment programs, behavior management programs, youth services programs, and other community and social service programs under the supervision of social services or health care professionals.
- Meet with people to assess their progress, give support and discuss any difficulties or problems.
- Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs by tracking clients' behavioral changes and responses to interventions.
- Advise and aid recipients of social assistance and pensions.
- Provide crisis intervention and emergency shelter services.
- Implement and organize the delivery of specific services within the community.
- Maintain contact with other social service agencies and health care providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on persons’ overall progress.
- Mobilize and coordinate volunteer resources and activities for various organizations such as human service agencies, health care facilities, arts, and sports, etc.
- May maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research.
- May supervise social service support workers and volunteers.

**Requirements/ Qualifications**:

- Successful Completion of Secondary School (required), College diploma in Human Services (preferred) and/or equivalent related experience.
- Valid Class G driver's license.
- Covid-19 Vaccinated with 2 doses.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certifications or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Police clearance with vulnerable sector screening.
- Core Competencies: Advocating for others, Collaboration, Creative Problem Solving & Decision Making, Fostering Independence in others, Initiative, Interpersonal Relations & Respect, Resilience.
- Working Condition: Exposure to hazards including dust, dirt, smoke, cleaning supplies, noise, feces, urine, and other human body fluids.
- Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
