Quality Control Technician

40 - 44 hours / week
$21 / Hour

**Roles and Responsibility**:
Overall responsibility
Oversee the quality and safety of the produce ensuring it complies with company and customer standards.
Key areas of responsibility
Conducts inspections of finished products or raw materials to identify trends in defects or errors, supporting more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to new team members
Conducts documentation review of HACCP and food safety and quality documents.
Assists in audits and shelf-life projects through testing, preparing reports and final summaries.
Manages customer complaints and ensure appropriate actions and preventative measures are in place to prevent reoccurrence.
Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned by applicable Supervisor/Manager(s).
Attendance and participation in all required meetings.
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
Maintain confidentiality regarding all projects, property and intellectual property of the company.
Report all discrepancies and breaches of any and all company procedures, protocols and integrity.
Ensure that all functions conform to all Food Safety, Quality Management System and Health and Safety requirements.
Obey all general job training instructions, safe work practices and procedures.

Packhouse Supervisors, Employees, Suppliers, Customer(s)
Substitute for
Food Safety and Quality Assistant
**Skills (sets) Required: (include education & experience)**:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1-2 years in food safety or quality assurance role in the food, cosmetic or other regulated industry
Understanding of HACCP principles, the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and GFSI schemes
Comfortable working in a cold and hot environment, standing and walking for duration of shift and able to lift up to 44 pounds
Leadership skills, ability to be objective
Team player, comfortable collaborating with other departments but also working independently
Organizational and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid Drivers License
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Flexible, Reliable
