Class 1 & 5-ton Driver

We are currently looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a safe and experienced Class 1 & 5-Ton Driver.

Main Duties:

- Final mile pickups and deliveries in Calgary and around Alberta using our two 53 ft. reefer trailers. All of our Class 1 deliveries are local and in Alberta - we do not do long haul, overnight trips, interprovincial, or trips to the USA.
- When not doing Class 1 trips, driver will be required to complete pickups and deliveries using our company owned 5-ton trucks with air brakes, cargo vans and other vehicles.
- Able to safely travel long distances and complete assigned duties, while maintaining accuracy on all required tasks
- Responsible for the loading and unloading of vehicles, verifying shipment information, and maintaining cargo security
- Prepare orders by processing requests; pulling materials/shipments, packing/re-packing boxes and skids. Assist with warehouse shipping/receiving tasks when required
- Communicate timely updates of critical shipment and delivery information using company-provided phone.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Assist with performing preventive maintenance when required
- Communicate with dispatchers to complete assigned deliveries and pickups. Able to quickly adapt to evolving delivery requirements and customer specifications, be flexible with work duties throughout the shift.
- Multi-tasking during shifts to ensure all tasks are completed

**Requirements**:

- Must have at least 3 years of safe and verifiable Class 1 driving experience. Additional experience with 5-ton driving is an asset.
- Clean Driver's Abstract with Air Brake endorsement
- Must be able to pass CCRC security clearance (background check)
- Previous knowledge of temperature controlled vehicles and power tailgate operation, is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding areas
- Strong knowledge of logbooks and Canadian driving regulations
- Driver should have familiarity with ELD and dispatching delivery apps
- Confident to drive in city and on highways in all weather conditions and at all times of day. Winter driving experience is an asset.
- Must be willing and able to be on call for 5-ton and van hotshot deliveries within Alberta and throughout Western Canada. Overnight stays are rare and these are divided amongst all drivers.
- Ability to work weekends & evenings is required, based on ongoing rotating driver schedule.
- Shifts during the week will range from 8 hour days to 13 hour days depending on volumes. Guaranteed 40 hours per week - there are many opportunities for overtime and extra hours. Overtime is after 40 hours per week or 8 hours per shift.
- Physically fit and able to lift at least 60 lbs
- Previous warehouse experience, forklift skills, and mechanical inclination are an asset
- Clear communication skills & excellent knowledge of English
- Have a proactive approach and a positive attitude, handling all customer interactions in a professional manner
- Looking for a self-starter who takes initiative to ensure deliveries are made efficiently and as instructed

- Prospective applicant will be required to successfully complete internal driving verification before hiring
- Class 1 Driver's License is required

Please note starting wage is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
