**Job Summary**

We are seeking a **Health and Safety Coordinator** to join our team This individual will report to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, and will serve as an example of and promote a corporate culture in which at-risk behaviours are recognised and corrected while safe behaviours are reinforced. By establishing, planning, implementing, and managing a range of health, safety, and environmental programs in accordance with all statutory standards, this role will assist the Company and its front-line leadership in protecting the health and safety of all employees. Through collaboration with operational leaders and Joint Health and Safety committees, the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will put a special emphasis on safety prevention at each location across the organization.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Coordinate training for new and current employees
- Develop new policies, procedures and training programs for legislative requirements including environmental
- Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and training programs for all legislative requirements
- Conduct weekly site inspections and toolbox talks
- Engage in making recommendations and follow-up protocols
- Investigate and document incidents and accidents
- Assist with return to work and modified duties programs
- Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on safety related issues
- Evaluate hazardous conditions and make recommendations
- Work with the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment, and other outside health and safety agencies
- Conduct site orientations
- Assist in the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of our Environmental Health and Safety Management System

**Requirements**:

- Minimum education requirement:

- 2-year college diploma in occupational health and safety is required
- Minimum 2 years of previous experience in health and safety field as a safety coordinator or similar roles that help create and enforce safety standards, writing safety policies and collecting data on health and safety
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds if required
- Familiarity and proficiency using a tablet computer and MS Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to navigate site terrain hazards and climb ladders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Well organized, accountable and punctual
- Self-directed and motivated
- Willingness to learn
- Team player and ability to work independently
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Must have good hand-eye coordination and must be able to distinguish between colors
- Must be able to conduct the following inspections and investigations:

- Sanitary conditions
- Pollution monitoring programs
- Chemical containment
- Medical devices
- Hazardous products handling and storage
- Workplace and work related accidents
- English is the primary language of work

Pay: $63,757.00-$73,000.00 per year
