Kitchener, Canada First Step Language Academy Full time

Teachers enjoy the flexibility to select their classes but are expected to complete a 'term,' typically consisting of 10 sessions over 10 weeks. In-person lessons are conducted at local schools, libraries, coffee shops, and clients' homes.

**Main Responsibility**

Vital to this role is responsibility. Instructors must arrive punctually for classes and honour their commitment to a semester of classes which typically is 10 lessons over 10 weeks.

**Additional Responsibilities**
- Designing engaging lessons for our students
- Guiding and actively engaging students to help them achieve their learning objectives
- Considering individual learning styles and preferences
- Assigning homework after each session
- Providing constructive feedback to students and parents

**Requirements**:

- Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese
- Able to teach students pinyin and tones.
- Authorized to work in Canada
- Conversational fluency in English
- Current residency in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, or London
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience

**Nice-to-haves**:

- Experience teaching or tutoring. (Mandarin teaching experience a bonus)
- Proficient in both simplified and traditional Chinese characters
- Aware of the intricate differences between different Chinese dialects
- Teaching certificate or a background in education

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $22.50-$26.66 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 15 per week
