Clifton is currently searching for an Environmental Field Technician, to join our Alberta Site Assessment and Remediation team in our Calgary office. In this role, you will coordinate and execute field activities assigned by Project Managers, conduct site visits and inspections, monitor and supervise drilling and remediation activities, prepare field notes, collect soil and groundwater, and contribute to the success of our environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments including background searches, data complication, and site reconnaissance.
- Assisting in the coordination of Phase II Environmental Site Assessments including the completion of safety plans and ground disturbance procedures.
- Completing and documenting field programs for borehole and soil sampling programs, soil vapour screening, monitoring well installations, groundwater sampling with a variety of sampling techniques, air and vapour monitoring and sampling, and surveying.
- Recording field data and observations, soil classifications and logging, collecting environmental samples, submitting samples as per instruction, and maintaining detailed notes.
- Completing regular maintenance and calibration of field equipment.
- Maintaining the environmental laboratory including stocking disposable products, cleanliness of the facility, organization and inventory of products and equipment.
- Adapting Clifton’s Quality Management System into project delivery.
- Other duties, as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of an Environmental Technology diploma or bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or a related environmental field.
- Previous experience not required, but relevant experience in soil and groundwater sampling, overseeing drilling activities, and subcontractor management is an asset.
- Strong interest in learning environmental assessments, including soil and groundwater field sampling.
- Strong organizational skills, including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, in the context of work/life balance.
- Ability to work independently on site, outside, and in remote locations for periods of time, tolerating variable weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Continued attention to safety and safe work environments, with a strong workplace safety orientation.

Physical Requirements
- Operate a pickup truck or van requiring a standard Class 5 Driver’s License to travel to project locations and transport equipment for sampling and testing at a variety of job sites.
- Lift, bend, and turn while being able to move samples and equipment from one place to another, in and out of vehicles, and around the project site.
- Work on uneven terrain and near large construction equipment.
- Work outside in a variety of weather conditions, sometimes for long hours, and in remote locations.
