Plant Operator

We are actively seeking an experienced Day Shift Well Operator to join our team in our Lloydminster Thermal asset. Reporting to the Wells Lead, the Day Well Operator will a part of the Operations team in a senior Well Operator capacity. The Well Operator will oversee for day-to-day operations of SAGD well pads, HLPS, and disposal well pads, ensuring safe and compliant equipment operation. The Day Well Operator will also provide support during upset conditions and will require troubleshooting skills, while ensuring safety protocols are adhered to. The role will also ensure maintenance of equipment is completed safely, approve work requests, mentor and train staff, and support the Management of Change Program.- Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations.- Support and ensure compliance of Strathcona’s Safety Management Plan- Support the coordination of well servicing/drilling activities (i.e. lease turnover documentation), as well as coordinate the surface equipment preparation for well servicing activities.- Attend Production Engineering and Operations meetings and provide feedback on well performance.- Provide input to Management of Change and Development Projects to optimize plant efficiency.- Opportunity for input into the design, construction and implementation of future projects.- Ability to provide oversight, guidance and training to employees.- Complete yearly Regulatory inspections.- Create and verify Standard Operating Procedure’s.- Ensure equipment is safely prepared for maintenance activities.- Review the post well servicing turnover check sheet with well servicing prior to accepting well turnover.- Support the Well Lead to ensure that all well tests are completed, and accurate data is entered in Isolera.- Support the Well Lead in completing Enablon inspections and investigations. Ensure that hazards and incidents are entered promptly.- Support the Well Lead and Ops Specialist in ensuring that all lease conditions are in good order.

Qualifications Include:
- Must have a strong understanding of thermal heavy oil or SAGD production, specifically operations of Rotoflex pumping units, VSH2’s, and ESP’s.- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.- Committed to best practices in Health, Safety and Environmental management.- Proven experience as a leader or relevant role.- Written communication skills include the ability to prepare correspondence, proposals, and the ability to outline procedures.- Team player with strong leadership, interpersonal, and mentorship skills.- Ability to multi-task and show good judgment in decision making.- Familiar with reading facility drawings and understanding equipment specifications.- Must be able to take initiative to implement and follow through on improvements.- Self-motivated, open-minded and results oriented.- Conduct business in a professional, ethical way with a focus on community responsibility.-
- Knowledge of Well Servicing and Workover activity is an asset.

Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years SAGD operations experience with thermal heavy oil.- 3rd Class Power Engineers Certification

Work Environment:
- This shift will be a 7 on 7 off straight days shift from Wednesday to Tuesday
