**Sterilization Certification is required for this role**
This position performs a series of detailed technical duties related to decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing, and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and medical devices for the procedure room and various areas of the Clinic.
This position performs the following duties but not limited to:
- Clerical duties related to sterilization
- record-keeping
- Cleaning OR
- Cleaning Examination Rooms
- Cleaning Recovery Rooms
- Cleaning Procedure Rooms
- Cleaning Consultations rooms and related areas
- Laundry
- Ordering of supplies
This role ensures routine maintenance of all sterilization equipment is performed and keeps records of the maintenance performed. Maintains an awareness of the subtle complexities of the instruments used in daily procedures. Keeps abreast of the upcoming procedures to be performed and ensure that instrumentation and consumables required for cases are sterilized and ready for use. Maintains an understanding of the dynamics of sterilization and an ability to operate all sterilization systems in use within our organization including preparing the device for a particular sterilization technique. Operating the sterilizer, processing monitoring readings, error codes, and quality assurance for load releases. Cleans and tests the sterilizers according to manufacturers' recommendations. Interacts in person and/or on the telephone with nursing personnel to ensure supply issues are met. Transports soiled surgical instruments and equipment while ensuring infection control principles are followed. Trophon handling and sterilization.
This is a physically demanding position: Repetitive bending, repetitive lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 30 pounds, repetitive pushing and pulling of broom, mops, and buckets. Constant standing and walking. Exposure to chemicals, blood, and body fluids extreme heat and humidity as well as loud noise.
Teaching staff how to Don and Doff PPE and the proper method of hand washing.
This fast-paced position is best suited for someone who can multitask, work independently and with a team.
You must be an excellent communicator and have the ability to follow instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
Expected hours: 37.50 per week
