To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a **Project Consultant** to support our **Capital Development** at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.
Capital Development is devoted to the coordination of space, projects and people. To be successful in this role, you will possess considerable knowledge and experience in capital construction project planning and management, preferably within a healthcare environment. Reporting to the Senior Director, Facilities Planning & Capital Development, the Project Consultant is accountable to manage, organize, monitor and orchestrate approved capital projects, as assigned by the Senior Director, from inception through to project close-out, some of which may occur concurrently. The Project Consultant will be a key team member of the Capital Development team for planning and execution of redevelopment projects, including major capital projects involving the renovation of over 30% (+300,000sqft) of the existing Mount Sinai Hospital facility and the development of 4.5 acre of the Mount Sinai campus. The Project Consultant ensures that all projects comply, as may be required, with the directions outlined in the MOHLTC Capital Planning Manual, relevant procurement guidelines outlined in the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive (BPS) and identified by the hospital, and all applicable building codes.
The Project Consultant will implement and manage several tasks assigned by the Senior Director and the Site Manager. The Project Consultant will work with the user group; perform financial activities and report to the Senior Director; prepare schedules and specifications; assist in the procurement of changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors; hire and monitor the activities of contractors, subcontractors and/or trades people; work closely with users to ensure the completion of all related Information elements for the projects (existing and new), including a plan and timeline for procurement and relocation; assist in decant planning and implementation; work with the Capital Development team to establish commissioning plans and patients and staff relocation; assist during construction and organize office information and drawings.
Responsibilities include:
- Implements and manages several tasks and roles within the project
- Implements the processes and procedures of the project implementation to ensure that all applicable regulations, building codes and regulations are satisfied
- Develops, monitors, controls and reports on project’s component budgets and schedules
- Liaises with project users (clinical and non-clinical) and other stakeholders to ensure needs are addressed and issues are resolved to meet project objectives
- Ensures timely identification of issues and communication of project status to users and stakeholders, including but not limited to information concerning schedule, risk management, and other issues affecting the project; facilitates timely decision-making
- Manages the project resources and applicable budget to ensure deliverables achieved are on time and on budget
- Assists the Redevelopment team to: Coordinate the resolution of planning, design, construction and contractual issues
- Develop output specifications to ensure that the objectives of Mount Sinai Hospital’s design and corporate visions are achieved for clinical and non-clinical spaces
- Ensure project safety and commissioning practices are adhered to in order to protect the Hospital’s interests, both financially and from a liability standpoint
- Ensure relevant Codes and Ontario regulations are adhered to (e.g. ODA, Fire and Life Safety, OH&S ACT, Building Code, etc.)

- Job Requirements- Successful completion of a University Degree or College Diploma, preferably in Architecture, Planning or Engineering required from an accredited educational institution
