Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME) is hiring experienced HSE Coordinators to start immediately. This is a permanent, full-time position located at our clients site with a schedule of 7/7. Operating from its’ main operations in Fort McKay, BME provides vac, water, waste, fuel, and flat bed hauling services to industrial and commercial customers.
**Job Summary**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Stop and/or intervene with all unsafe work you may come across
- Assist with on
- and off-site safety as directed by supervision
- Assist with daily toolbox talk, and monthly team meetings
- Keep up to date on OH&S rules and regulations
- Ensure BME’s Safe Work Execution Plans (SWEP) is current and up to date
- Ensure that all BME’s safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are followed and recommend changes as required by senior management
- Intervene and report employee deviations from safety procedures and regulations to BME management team
- Follow up on newly hired employees to ensure that all required training and testing has been completed and documented. Ensure all site training requirements have been met.
- Assist with Injury Case management as needed
- Investigate and compile Incident Investigation Reports in a timely manner and in accordance with the BME Incident Management Standard
- Perform site inspections daily.
- Review FLRA’s, JSA’s and pre-trips daily.
- Compliance auditing
- Participate in HSE standard development and training
- Track and report HSE performance for the site you are assigned to by maintaining the assigned Stat tracker for your site
- Attend all HSE related meetings and represent BME in a professional HSE capacity
- Advise operational management on HSE related queries when needed
- Comply with all formal communication and reporting expectations as laid out in BME’s policies and department standards
- Other duties as assigned
**Preferred Education and Experience**
- Active NCSO certification or OHS Cert/Diploma
- Minimum 5 years industry experience
- CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO
- Minimum 2 years experience in the safety field
- Familiar with oil sands industry
- Possess a valid class 5 operators license with clean drivers abstract
- Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation, D&A and fit for duty screening
**Additional Requirements**
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, PowerPoint). A proficiency test may be required.
- Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to handle shifting and conflicting priorities and multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Have excellent organizational skills. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Be a solution-oriented individual who can work both independently with mínimal supervision, within a team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude to the safety team.
