**Community Recreation Manager (14-Month Contract)**
**Reports to**: Director Community Support Services
**Supervises**: Volunteer Services Coordinator, Music Program Coordinator, Active Living Program Coordinators, Recreation Therapist (Young Onset Adult Day Program), contracted Active Living Program Facilitators
**Job Summary**
The Community Recreation Manager directly manages and oversees the delivery of the organization’s programs and volunteers which includes developmentand delivery of the Young Onset Adult Day Program, community-based activation programs under the Active Living Program umbrella, Music Project, Teleconnect and Volunteer Services. The Community Recreation Manager additionally directly manages and oversees the Scarborough Hub location facilities and implementation of programming and services. Internally, the Community Recreation Manager supervises 5 direct reports and several contract facilitators. This includes providing strategy, guidance, support, resources, and tools, and to staff who supervise volunteers, volunteers, and students with the goal to promote and deliver client-centered programs and services.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Active Living Program**
- Oversee Active Living Program (ALP) strategy, including logistics, promotion, and delivery.
- Coach, mentor and provide operational leadership to the Active Living Program Coordinators.
- Source contracted services to provide community activation and therapeutic recreation programming.
- Deliver orientation and role-specific training to contracted ALP Facilitators.
- Supervise ongoing facilitation of all ALP, providing guidance and support to Facilitators.
- Oversee Minds in Motion program standardization and delivery in accordance with Alzheimer Society Ontario.
- Manage risk evaluation process with each program and community location, ensuring strategies to mitigate as required in order to maintain client safety in recreational environments.
- Ensure ALP adheres to Alzheimer Society policies and procedures.
- Supervise and audit program evaluations and feedback surveys (quarterly/annually). Assess identified gaps and areas of improvement and develop a strategy to enhance program execution to meet the ongoing needs of clients.
- Implement Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Strategy for ALP.
- Develop annual ALP budget and administer/monitor expenditures.
- Develop and implement SMART goals and objectives which reflect the mission of the organization for the ongoing implementation of ALP.
- Prepare bi-monthly board reports and track/update KPI’s on a monthly basis.
- Supervise and audit client records and attendance in client record database.
- Act as Student Placement Supervisor for ALP. Provide screening, training, support, evaluation, and ongoing management during field placement term.
- Assume responsibility for personal upgrading in knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, and ongoing professional development.
**Volunteer Program**
- Manage the Volunteer Program - Coach, mentor and provide operational leadership to the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Oversee all non-paid student placements, acting as Student Placement Advisor for Alzheimer Society Toronto.
- Supervise the planning and volunteer support for a variety of events throughout the year including but not limited to: IG Wealth Management Quest (350 volunteers), Walk for Alzheimer’s, etc.
- Oversee the execution of the Peer Support Program including working closely with Social Work staff, conducting facilitator training and management of high-level volunteers
- including reviewing peer support group reports/respite reports (weekly/monthly) and providing ongoing leadership to Peer Support volunteers.
- Manage the execution of the Teleconnect Program including working closely with Social Work, Intake and Care Navigation staff.
- Supervise high-level volunteers providing guidance, support, resources, and tools for ongoing phone calls. Maintain and audit TREAT records.
- Conduct annual volunteer record audits.
- Oversee the planning execution of the annual appreciation event for volunteers during National Volunteer Week.
